USAID IUWASH PLUS Participates in the 8th KTI Forum Festival

On October 24-25, 2018, USAID IUWASH PLUS participated in the exhibition of the 8th KTI (Eastern Indonesia) Forum Festival held by the BAKTI foundation and KTI Forum.

This bi-annual festival was held to celebrate development innovations in Eastern Indonesia, and serve as an opportunity for the development actors to share good practices and lessons learned to advance the progress of Eastern Indonesia development.

It was estimated that around 700 people including a number of VVIPs, such as the Minister of Public Works and Housing, South Sulawesi Governor, 16 Mayors/Head of Districts, and other development counterparts, such as UNFPA, DFAT KOMPAK, and OXFAM attended the festival.

In this festival, USAID IUWASH PLUS ran an exhibition booth to showcase the project activities and achievements in South Sulawesi and Eastern Indonesia region to the booth visitors, among others are the Head of Development Planning Agencies (Bappeda) of North Sulawesi and Pangkep district.
Besides sharing the project’s activities, USAID IUWASH PLUS also educated the visitors on safely managed water and sanitation topics covering urban WASH, WASH financing, and domestic wastewater management. As part of the promotion, USAID IUWASH PLUS staff ran quizzes on the water and sanitation issues to the booth visitors.

The presentations and education from USAID IUWASH PLUS received positive responses from the visitors. Among others is Resna, a representative of mushroom [cultivation] community group in Makassar. “USAID IUWASH PLUS educates people on good and crucial issues,” he said. Furthermore, Resna promised to share the education messages from USAID IUWASH PLUS with his colleagues in Makassar.
