USAID IUWASH PLUS Hosted a Talk Show on the Key Behavior to Stay Safe and Productive during the COVID-19 Pandemic

USAID IUWASH PLUS hosted an online talk show on #3MPlus: the Key Behavior to Stay Safe and Productive during the COVID-19 Pandemic on August 12, 2020.

The talk show featured health experts as the speakers, such as dr. Pandu Riono (an epidemiologist from Universitas Indonesia), dr. Imran Agus Nurali (the Director Environmental Health of Ministry of Health), dr. Fify Mulyani (the representative from Public Health Office of DKI Jakarta province), and dr. Falla Adinda (a medical doctor and influencer).

They shared updates on the current situation of the COVID-19 pandemic and the concept of #3MPlus to protect the people from the virus.

According to Dr. Pandu Riono, the COVID-19 transmission can be decreased if all community applies #3MPlus, which stands for Memakai Masker (wearing a mask), Menjaga Jarak (physical distancing), Mencuci Tangan Pakai Sabun (handwashing with soap), plus Akses Air Minum dan Sanitasi Aman (access to safely managed drinking water and sanitation).

Further, Dr. Pandu Riono also reminds all stakeholders to participate in the efforts to break the chain of the COVID-19 transmission.

In addition, dr. Agus Imran Nurali explained that the Ministry of Health has issued protocols and information and education promotion media on the #3M.

The Ministry has also encouraged the community to use safely managed drinking water and sanitation through the Community Based Total Sanitation program.

Besides the government, public figures, and media also play important roles to educate the community members.

dr. Falla Adinda pointed out that content creators, public figures, and media need to provide the community with clear, easy to understand, and right to the target messages.

“The pandemic is the momentum to share responsibilities and to improve, apply clean and health behaviors,” she highlighted.
