The Deputy Chief Executive of Kupang District, Jerry Manafe, appreciated Bappenas and USAID Indonesia for selecting the district as one of USAID IUWASH Tangguh working areas in East Nusa Tenggara.
He expressed this appreciation when meeting with the Director of Housing and Settlement of Bappenas, Tri Dewi Virgiyanti; representatives of USAID Indonesia, Ryan Weddle and Trigeany Linggoatmodjo, and USAID IUWASH Tangguh team on December 6th, 2022. The Deputy Chief Executive expected that USAID IUWASH Tangguh would collaborate with the local government offices and community organizations.
“We cannot work alone. We should collaborate to attain healthy and wealthy communities as well as to make Kupang district better in the future,” said the Deputy Chief Executive.
One day after the meeting, the teams of Bappenas, Ministry of Public Works and Housing, USAID Indonesia, and USAID IUWASH Tangguh visited Tarus spring to observe the spring that PDAM Tirta Lontar in Kupang district uses to serve customers and to make bulk water.
The teams also visited Tilong water treatment plant to see the condition of the facility. The water treatment plant’s capacity of 10 liters per second currently serves around 130 house connections.
The meeting with the deputy chief executive and the visits to the spring and water treatment plant were conducted as part of the USAID IUWASH Tangguh’s annual work plan (RKT) signing, which took place in Kupang city on December 7th, 2022. With the RKT signed, With the annual work plan signed, USAID IUWASH Tangguh officially begins the program implementation in East Nusa Tenggara.
