USAID IUWASH PLUS partnered with Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and DKI Jakarta Province Government held a workshop on the Development of Grand Strategy on Water Supply and Sanitation in Jakarta on August 30, 2017. This workshop was attended by participants from MPWH, Bappenas, Organization of Local Governments (OPD) of DKI Jakarta Province, PD PAL Jaya, PDAM PAM Jaya, donors and NGOs. “I appreciate the partnership between USAID IUWASH PLUS and JICA in organizing this workshop. I hope this workshop can produce a Grand Strategy that will provide input for the Regional Medium Term Development Plan (RPJMD) of DKI Jakarta Province,” stated Oswar Mungkasa, the Deputy for Spatial Planning and Environmental of DKI Jakarta Province in his opening remarks for the workshop.
During the workshop, the participants were divided into 5 groups to discuss detail topics for developing the Grand Strategy. These topics included technology, priority areas, assets/lands, financing and regulations.
This workshop served as the collaboration forum for many stakeholders in developing a Grand Strategy for Jakarta. “Through this workshop we can collaborate to develop an agreed and mutual platform for all stakeholders that include OPDs, PD PAL Jaya and PAM Jaya. I also hope that USAID IUWASH PLUS will continue its support in assisting and facilitating OPDs in implementing this Grand Strategy,” said Dormaringan Saragih, the Secretary for Bureau of Water Supply Regulator (BRPAM) of DKI Jakarta Province.
To follow up the workshop, USAID IUWASH PLUS in consultation with the DKI Jakarta Government will compile and analyze WASH issues and solutions discussed during the workshop in order to develop the Grand Strategy Document.
