USAID IUWASH Tangguh E-Newsletter 3rd Edition, September 2023
A Word from USAID IUWASH Tangguh
Welcome to the third edition of USAID IUWASH Tangguh E-Newsletter, September 2023!
This edition is special for us. We highlight the journeys of champions—from the service providers, local government institutions to communities—in advancing water and sanitation access and hygiene practices in our 38 city/district Project’s sites.
These champions use their expertise to facilitate and drive changes in their organization and neighborhood, enabling more communities to improve access to safely managed drinking water and sanitation and increase hygiene practices.
The story from Central Java showcases the journey of a village official in Sragen District (Central Java) who uses village and private sector funds to improve villagers’ sanitation facilities. In Takalar Distrit (South Sulawesi), a staff person from the Local Public Works and Spatial Planning Office practices delivering desludging services amidst limited infrastructures. Moving to North Sumatra, a long-serving community volunteer in Binjai City tirelessly educates her neighbors on the importance of safely managed drinking water and sanitation, and hygiene practices. The video on water safety plan showcases a water quality expert from Pontianak’s water utility (PDAM) uses his expertise to safeguard water quality.
USAID IUWASH Tangguh continues to unlock the potential of individuals to promote and enable change within their organizations and community, ensuring more Indonesians have safely managed drinking water and sanitation facilities, adopt hygiene practices, and sustain water resource management.
Happy Reading!
