Mixed feelings! That is what we are feeling when publishing the 18th Edition of USAID IUWASH PLUS E-Newsletter, December 2021. We are proud and delighted to present you with inspiring stories. Yet, every meeting always ends with a farewell. This is our last E-Newsletter as the USAID IUWASH PLUS Project will conclude its program implementation in January 2022.
During the last five-year-eight-month, there are a lot of positive changes resulted from strong collaborations among national and local governments, community members, and private sectors with supports from USAID IUWASH PLUS. In addition, many community members have successfully mobilized other people around them to improve their water and sanitation facilities and hygiene practices in their neighborhood.
In this e-newsletter, we present you stories on the positive changes that occur in Probolinggo city and district, Karawang, Maluku Central districts, and Magelang, and Surakarta cities.
- Alimuddin Helps Provide Healthier and Affordable Toilets for the Poor
- A Community-Led Forum Expands the Urban STBM Program Implementation in Magelang City
- Wheny Susianti: A Female Hero for Water and Sanitation From Silir
- Gayam’s transformation from slum to model village

Despite all those improvements, Indonesia still has a lot of homeworks to achieve the 2020-2024 National Medium Term Plan (RPJMN) and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), No. 6, 2030. We hope that these positive improvements will continue inspire all stakeholders in WASH sector to further advance the sector so that Indonesia is able to achieve the RPJMN and SDGs’ targets.
At last, we would like to say Happy Holiday and Happy New Year 2022!!
Warmest Regards,
USAID IUWASH PLUS
