On the 317th anniversary day of Sibolga City on April 3, 2017, the government of Sibolga City and USAID IUWASH PLUS have signed the Partnership Agreement on the Implementation of Indonesia Urban Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Penyehatan Lingkungan untuk Semua Program in Sibolga City. The agreement was signed by the Mayor of Sibolga City M. Syarfi Hutauruk and USAID IUWASH PLUS Institutional Development Advisor Foort Bustraan observed by Governor of North Sumatra Tengku Erry Nuradi, Vice Mayor of Sibolga Edi Polo Sitanggang, Head and Vice of Sibolga DPRD, OPD of North Sumatra, OPD of Sibolga and USAID IUWASH PLUS Regional Manager of North Sumatra Mohamad Yagi.
Governor of North Sumatra Utara Tengku Erry Nuradi in his opening remark expressed his appreciation for USAID IUWASH PLUS that has partnerships with several districts/cities in North Sumatra Province includes Sibolga City. This agreement is significant for North Sumatra and selected districts/cities considering that WASH sector still required improvements. As we know that more than half of North Sumatra population with the total number of 13.2 million people are residing in cities. In fact, 70% of urban population do not have access to water supply in their homes.
