Handwashing with Soap Facilities Handover from the U.S Goverment for the Community in Bogor District

The U.S. Charge d’Affaires, Mrs. Heather Variava, handed over handwashing with soap facilities to the Governance Assistant to the Bupati of Bogor district, Mr. Renaldi Yushab Fiansyah, as the representative of Bogor district government and community.

This handover ceremony was held jointly by USAID Indonesia and USAID IUWASH PLUS at Puskesmas Ciawi on September 10, 2020.

Through a collaboration with the Bogor district government and PDAM Tirta Kahuripan, the U.S. Government provided 20 handwashing with soap facilities to be placed in markets and puskesmas.

This initiative was held as part of the U.S. Government assistance to the Government of Indonesia to combat transmission of COVID-19 by promoting clean and healthy behaviors to community members.

The U.S Charge d’Affaires, Mrs. Heather Variava, pointed out that everyone plays important roles to cut the COVID-19 transmission by applying #3MPlus (Indonesian hashtag for “wearing mask, physical distancing, handwashing with soap plus improving access to water and sanitation”).

In addition, the Governance Assistant to the Bupati of Bogor district, Mr. Fiansyah, also hopes that the community could sustain the clean and healthy behaviors both during and after the pandemic to keep them healthy.

Including Bogor district, the U.S. Government provided a total of 250 handwashing with soap stations in nine densely populated urban areas (Medan, Deli Serdang, Jakarta, Depok, Bogor district, Surabaya, Sidoarjo, Gresik and Malang city). All those areas are the partners of USAID IUWASH PLUS.
