On December 19, 2020, University of Indonesia’s (UI) Program Pengabdian Masyarakat (Community Service Program) supported by USAID IUWASH PLUS conducted a handover ceremony of the septic tank construction to the community in Kelurahan Tebet Timur.
The cactivity was attended by Head of Kelurahan Tebet Timur, Siti Fauziah Gozali; the representatives from UI Program Pengabdian Masyarakat, Murwendah, S.I.A., M.A., Dr. Inayati, M.Si., Dr. dr. Anna Rozaliyani, M Biomed., Sp.P. (K) dan dr. Bertin Tanggap Tirtana; the PT Rototama Berlianplast representative, and Kelurahan Tebet Timur Community-Based Total Sanitation (STBM) Team.
Program Pengabdian dan Pemberdayaan Masyarakat UI was started on November 11 to December 11, 2020, where USAID IUWASH PLUS collaborating with a team from the University of Indonesia and PT Rototama Berlianplast to construct 8 units bio septic tank in the area of RW 010 Kelurahan Tebet Timur, South Jakarta.
The program was funded by UI and co-funded by PT Rototama Berlianplast to build the 8 units of bio septic tank in 2 batches, the first batch of 4 units of bio septic tank were constructed in December 2020, and the next batch of 4 units is planned to be constructed on January 2021.
During the handover ceremony, Program Pengabdian Masyarakat UI also did a socialization of Clean and Healthy Living Behaviors (PHBS) and the education on prevention of COVID-19 which was delivered by Dr. dr. Anna Rozaliyani, M Biomed., Sp.P. (K) and dr. Bertin Tanggap Tirtana.
The ceremony is part of the University of Indonesia’s Program Pengabdian Masyarakat which is carried out by providing guidance to empower efforts in the sanitation sector and preventing COVID-19 for the poor.
The construction of these 8 individual bio septic tanks in a densely populated area is Program Pengabdian dan Pemberdayaan Masyarakat UI pilot project, to grow the collaboration effort from stakeholders to implement the construction of septic tank, namely the University of Indonesia, PT Rototama Berlianplast, government of Kelurahan Tebet Timur and USAID IUWASH PLUS.
USAID IUWASH PLUS is in collaboration with the University of Indonesia in designing the concept of Program Pengabdian Masyarakat , facilitating communication between the parties, such as STBM Team from Kelurahan Tebet Timur and manufacturer of septic tank PT Rototama Berlianplast.
The collaboration also facilitates the selection of the location for the septic tank according to Community Action Plan (RKM) of RW 10 Kelurahan Tebet Timur and perform monitoring of the construction work of septic tank.
Following up on this activity is to build the next 4 units of septic tank at the beginning of year 2021 as planned. USAID IUWASH PLUS will provide support in updating and documenting RKM for RW 10 Kelurahan Tebet Timur, and continued implementation of RKM public RW 10 Kelurahan Tebet Timur.
