In order to aid in combatting COVID-19 in Indonesia, the U.S. Theater Civil-Military Support Element (US Civ-Mil), based in Singapore, in cooperation with USAID and IUWASH PLUS, is providing the second phase of assistance for handwashing with soap stations (HWWS).
From June 21–29, 2021, USAID IUWASH PLUS distributed a total of 131 portable HWWS units equipped with of liquid soap, hand towels, and plastic garbage bags, to Bogor city, Bogor district, Bekasi city, Tangerang district, Karawang district, and PD. Pasar Jaya in DKI Jakarta.
“Inshaallah, the handwashing with soap station will help improve our health and prevent Covid-19 transmission during the pandemic,” said Mr. Ade Risnandar, a sanitarian of Puskesmas Bantargebang Bekasi that receives the HWWS stations from the the US Civ-Mil.
The handwashing with soap stations being are placed in public areas, are expected to remind community members to wash their hands, and to help limit the transmission of the Covid-19 virus.
