USAID IUWASH PLUS and KOTAKU discussed a collaboration plan in USAID IUWASH PLUS’ five district/city partners during a meeting held on April 08, 2019 at the project’s office in Medan, North Sumatra. Those five districts/cities are Medan, Pematang Siantar, Deli Serdang, Tebing Tinggi, and Sibolga.
This discussion is important to ensure that the WASH developments carried out by KOTAKU and USAID IUWASH PLUS are efficient and on target.
Through this discussion, the participants agreed that USAID IUWASH PLUS will support KOTAKU in socializing safe water and sanitation to communities. The project will also provide capacity building for the community-based user and care-taker groups. These groups will manage WASH infrastructures that KOTAKU builds.
“Socialization and [training] on operation and maintenance for the user and care-taker groups are important [to ensure] the communities sustain [the WASH facilities],” said Kurniawan, the KOTAKU Coordinator.
Around 11 people representing KOTAKU and USAID IUWASH PLUS participated in this discussion.
